Chris White, P.E., LEED AP

Projects do not always go as planned. Environmental issues and site conditions can create uncertainty.

Chris White brings a practical, field-informed perspective to these situations. He helps teams understand what they are facing, weigh realistic options, and make sound decisions based on real-world conditions.

Meet Chris White

Chris White began working with Wynn L. White Consulting Engineers in 1988, starting with asbestos inspections during the initial round of school surveys across Louisiana. Early on, his work also included asbestos air monitoring and site visits during abatement projects, giving him direct exposure to how environmental issues are addressed in active construction settings.

While continuing that work, he completed a degree in history from Louisiana State University, followed by a degree in civil engineering. That path shaped both how he thinks and how he approaches projects, combining technical understanding with a broader perspective on problem evaluation and resolution.

Over time, Chris’s role has expanded to managing a wide range of projects for schools, hospitals, contractors, and industrial clients. Much of his work involves asbestos, lead, mold, and demolition, often in situations where conditions are not fully defined at the outset. His experience helps teams understand what they are dealing with and think through practical next steps.

He holds multiple accreditations related to asbestos and is a LEED Accredited Professional and licensed professional engineer in Louisiana. He is also active in professional organizations and regularly speaks at industry events.

Outside of project work, Chris brings a sense of perspective and personality to the profession, reflected in his writing and long-running blog. The tone is intentional, grounded, and approachable, serving as a reminder that even complex technical work benefits from clear thinking and a bit of humility.

He is also a co-author, with Wynn L. White, of Lead Learning Hazard and Mold Prevention Guide. These publications reflect the same practical, experience-based approach found in his work, focusing on helping teams understand environmental conditions, communicate clearly, and navigate complex situations.

Helping Schools & Facilities Take Action

It takes a foundational understanding of issues like lead, mold, and indoor environmental conditions to recognize what may be affecting a building and what it means for the people inside it. Without that baseline, it’s difficult to know how to respond or what steps to take next.

These published resources are designed to help schools, families, and organizations build that understanding. They explain how these conditions develop, what to look for, and how to approach them so decisions can be made with greater clarity.
